Summer Session in Prospect Park

Fire Element Focus

Our 4-week session begins July 29th and ends August 22nd .

The class is Monday through Thursday, 9am until 3pm. 

We will meet in Prospect Park at Lincoln Road entrance, conveniently located near the B/Q/S Prospect Park stop.

We will gather, walk to a play location in the park where the children are free to explore.

Then we will have lunch, time for handwork, and more free play!

Possible excursions include the Splashpad and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

This class will take place outdoors. If it rains, we will move to a covered location in the park.

If the weather is severe, we will go to the Brooklyn Public Library.

Cost is $500/week. You can do one, two, three or all four weeks.

Daily dropins are available too for $125. Just text me before 5pm the day before the dropin.

• Week One: 7/29-8/1 Sun

Introduce the sun as a unique star in our solar system, experiment with sun tea, sun dying.

• Week Two: 8/5-8/8 Light

Introduce photosynthesis: explore light + leaves, surface area of leaves.

• Week Three: 8/12-8/15 Stars

Introduce stars. Discuss notable stars. Explore constellations.

• Week Four: 8/19-8/22 Fire

Introduce fire as a source of light and heat. Demonstrate how to make a campfire.

Possibly grill some food at the park!

Possible Crafts Include: woven suns, chlorophyll prints, plant-based dying, constellations box theater, embroidered pencil cases, starry night bookmarks, constellation book.
