The Class Basics

for 2024-2025 School Year

An after school program for PreK-5th grade

Days:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. 

You can do one, two, three, four or all five days.

Time:  2:45pm-5pm. Pickup no later than 5:30pm.

Program Director: Beka Wallace, Mother of Charlotte and Ford

Co-Chair of the Third Street School Garden

Location: 3rd Street Courtyard. 

We will also tend the 4th Street Courtyard and the 10 tree pits on school property.

Class will take place outdoors as much as possible.

Thunderstorm and Winter Session Location: Room 207

Costs: 

$50/class for families with a combined income over $90K.

$45/class for families with a combined income from $70K-$89,999.

$40/class for families with a combined income from $55K-$69,999.

$30/class for families with a combined income from $30K-$54,999.

$15/class for families with a combined income less than $29,999.

Materials and registration fee per session: $35. 

Dropins:  $65/class. Please notify Beka at 917-573-1921, and pay no later than noon the day of.

Half Days:  $115/class until 5pm.

Late Pickup:  $15 late pickup fee after 5:30pm.

Enroll either monthly, seasonally or annually. 10% discount off annual enrollment.

Each month has a different number of DOE holidays. Monthly costs are averaged over the length of each season.

Pricing for Families with Combined Income of 90K or more

Session Dates: 

Fall Session (Earth)--September 9th, 2023-December 23, 2024

Winter Session (Air) --January 2nd, 2025-March 28, 2025

Spring Session (Water)--April 1, 2025, June 25, 2025

Snacks:
Families provide their own snacks.

Kids will be encouraged to taste washed produce harvested in garden.


Routine

 • Meet at pickup. (2:45pm)

• Walk over to the courtyard together plus bathroom break on the way. (2:45-3pm)

• Sit on bleachers for snack time and free play in the garden. Discussion topic. (3-3:45pm)

• Gather at the Honeysuckle planter for nature walk around our planters, including a spin on the composter. (3:45-4:00pm)

• Observe what needs attention on our nature walk. Older children pair with younger and pick a planter to work on together in designated area (or tree well). (4:00pm-4:25pm)

• Return to bleachers and wash hands. (4:25pm-4:30pm)

• Introduce nature craft and begin work. (4:30-5pm)

• Children may continue to work on their craft or have free play in the garden until parents pickup.
